About Indigo Estate

A home for honest inquiry, practical work, and deliberate living.

THE ORIGIN

How we came to be

Indigo Estate began with a simple question:

How much of what we believe, want and become did we actually choose?

Most of us inherit a framework for life long before we are old enough to examine it.

Ideas about success. Money. Relationships. Family. Faith. Work. Identity. Authority. What makes someone good. What makes someone worthy. What a meaningful life is supposed to look like.

Some of those ideas serve us well.

Some don't.

And some have been with us for so long that we no longer recognise them as ideas at all. They simply feel like the way things are.

Indigo Estate was created as a place to examine them.

Not to replace one set of answers with another.

To make room for better questions.

WE ARE INTERESTED IN WHAT SITS UNDERNEATH

  1. Why do we believe what we believe?
  2. Who taught us what success looks like?
  3. Which parts of our identity were chosen, and which were inherited?
  4. What happens when ancient texts are read without automatically accepting the interpretations placed around them?
  5. How do culture, family, religion, psychology, economics and power shape the lives we build?
  6. And what might become possible when we learn to recognise those influences clearly enough to choose for ourselves?

These questions take Indigo Estate into unusual territory.

One conversation might begin with the Bible. Another with money. Another with consciousness, family patterns, identity, relationships, work, culture or the quiet feeling that the life you were told to want isn't quite yours.

We don't require everyone who enters Indigo Estate to reach the same conclusions.

In fact, we'd be worried if they did.

SOVEREIGNTY, AS WE UNDERSTAND IT

For us, sovereignty isn't about having all the answers.

It isn't isolation, rebellion for its own sake or refusing to learn from anyone else.

It is the ability to examine what has shaped you without being unconsciously governed by it.

To question without automatically rejecting.

To listen without automatically agreeing.

To change your mind without considering it a failure.

And ultimately, to make more deliberate choices about what you believe, how you live and who you become.

To question. To choose. To become.

ONE ESTATE. DIFFERENT DOORS.

There isn't one prescribed route through Indigo Estate.

You don't need to do all of it.

Enter through whichever door makes you curious.

THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE ESTATE

Indigo Estate was founded by Michaela Lior and Michelle Flood.

It grew from countless conversations about belief, identity, freedom, inherited systems and the strange gap that can exist between the life we're told to build and the life that actually feels like our own.

We didn't create Indigo Estate because we believe we have discovered the correct way for everybody else to live.

Quite the opposite.

We created it because we think human beings deserve spaces where difficult questions can remain open long enough to be genuinely explored.

Where spirituality can sit beside psychology.

Where ancient wisdom can be examined alongside modern life.

Where evidence matters, experience can be discussed, disagreement is allowed, and changing your mind is not something to be embarrassed about.

And where becoming more sovereign doesn't mean becoming more certain.

Sometimes it means becoming brave enough to say:

I don't know yet. I want to look again.

We take the questions seriously. Ourselves, slightly less so.

Indigo Estate deals with some big subjects. Identity. Belief. Freedom. Power. Meaning. The lives we inherit and the lives we choose.

But sovereignty was never supposed to make life more solemn.

So yes, we will happily spend hours pulling apart a 2,000-year-old idea.

We may also take ridiculous photographs while we're doing it.

Both belong here.
